Saint James Independent Philippine Church began to worship on Saturday evening in the nave of Saint Francis Church and then began to share equally in the ministry of the church. The relationship ended in 1997 when Saint Francis Church closed.

Originally started as a mission of the Church of the Ascension in 1877, called Mission of Saint John the Evangelist, it became a mission of Saint James Episcopal Church (Chicago, Ill) in 1891. It then transitioned to an Italian mission in 1913 and closed permanently in 1922.
