Formally established on May 23, 1870, it moved back and forth from a status as a parish to the status of an organized mission. In 1959, it returned to organized mission status and has remained in that status since then. In 1994, it joined with other churches to form a cluster ministry called: Trinity Episcopal Ministry, in an attempt to grow membership. However, it withdrew in 1995 when it agreed to a shared ministry with Saint Paul's Church (Kankakee, Ill)

Church of the Holy Communion in Maywood, Il became a parish and then went through challenging times over the next 40 years going from mission to parish twice before being able to finally establish itself as a parish in 1918. Saint Simon the Cyrenian (670.142) was a mission of Holy Communion started in 1937 when the Black congregants, not feeling comfortable in Holy Communion, wanted to start their own church. Holy Communion closed in 2004.

Founded in 1942 as a mission congregation in the East Morgan Park community of Chicago, Ill. The community erected its first church building in 1964.
