The mission was started in 1886 and continued primarily as a Sunday School until 1896, when a movement to revive the mission resulted in the establishment of a church. A building was purchased from a Methodist Church which was building a new building. The church was moved to a newly purchased lot and refurbished by parishioners. In 1908, the building was again moved to its final location and again refurbished. Around 1948 the church burned down, and the congregation was combined with All Saints Church to form Saint Matthias Church.

Mission church that was open for 2 years. Edgar Wells from Church of the Annunciation of Our Lady, Waukegan, ILL (670.23) served as the priest in charge.

Services began in 1878, although the first church building was not built until 1889. The original mission became a church on February 2, 1902. A new church building was built, dedicated in 1930 and provided a worshipful church and a large gathering hall. The church closed in 2007.

Disbanded in 1965

Founded in 1916, it became known as the Children's Church for its innovative church school program. In 1979, Church of the Messiah merged with Saint Bartholomew Church to become Church of the Messiah/Saint Bartholomew (Chicago, Ill)
