Started as a Sunday School by the Rector of Grace Church, it was organized as a church in 1887. In 1935, it converted to an organized mission and in 1947, it closed its doors.

Saint Peter's Church was built in 1850 and consecrated in 1852. The land had been donated by Leonard Andrus, founder of Grand Detour and original partner of the renowned plow manufacturer, John Deere. The Gothic and Greek Revival structure is the second oldest Episcopal church building in Illinois. As a church it eventually became a chapel of St. L uke's, Dixon, Ill in 1952. The church periodically fell into disrepair and could not be used. During the 1990's the church building went through a complete restoration. In 1998, the building was transferred to the St. Peter's Preservation Committee. The building is no longer an Episcopal Church but still exists and is used as an event location.

Formed in 1837 as an unorganized mission, it was admitted to the Quincy Diocese Convention in 1847. The first church was build in 1854. In 2013, the Diocese of Quincy closed and Saint Paul's Episcopal Church (Warsaw, Ill) voted to join the Diocese of Chicago, where it still exists today.

In 1868, the mission began with a church school program held every Sunday in the pastor's home, with occasional Sunday services held in the local Methodist Church. Regular services began in 1870 in various locations until 1888, when a church building was erected. Later a Parish house was added. The mission continued until 2019, when it closed.
