History

First started in 1885 the church closed in 1889 and the building was sold. In 1931 there was interest in restarting Redeemer. This was supported by then Bishop Stewart and in 1932 Redeemer became a mission of the Diocese of Illinois. The church resumed with limited activity in the Widows and Soldiers Home in Wilmington. The church never really thrived although it did exist until 1955.
