Geschiedenis
Beginning in 1852, some churchmen in Chicago began to plan for a cathedral. Debate over whether to establish such an establishment raged for several years. In 1861, the former Church of Saint Andrew's Parish was enlarged and called the Bishop's Church. From 1862 to the present, the Annual Convention has always been held in the "Bishop's Church" as it was being called. In 1866, the title Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul was officially used by the Bishop. In 1871, the Cathedral was made a permanent institution of the diocese. On March 6, 1921, the building was entirely destroyed by fire.
