History

The church building was constructed in 1880. In 1963, Bishop Burrill ordered the Holy Cross-Immanuel Church to close and relocate to Saint Bartholomew Church, with their pastor, Father Harris, installed as the new rector. In 1979, Saint Bartholomew Church merged with Church of the Messiah to become Church of the Messiah/Saint Bartholomew.
