Originally named St. Paul's Mission. Renamed to St. Martin's in 1901 when it was decided there were too many churches named St. Paul in Chicago. Originally a predominately white church, by 1960 it became a predominately black church in Austin with Chase House and Christian Community Service housed at the church..
