History

The Church of St. Paul and the Redeemer grew out of two nineteenth-century parishes that merged in 1968. in 1859, St. Paul's successfully applied to the Diocese to establish a parish and in 1889 had established The Church of the Redeemer as a daughter parish. A fire destroyed St. Paul’s Church in March 1956. The parish chose to remain on the same site rather than leave the neighborhood and the present building was dedicated in November 1958. In January 1968 the two congregations began worshipping together at St. Paul’s and shortly merge, becoming the Church of St. Paul & the Redeemer.
